Going Pro....

I've decided. I stewed over it and realized the same thing that I did when I was choosing University courses... the details of the outcome are irrelevant to the scope of the entire process.  No matter how many little things I learn, the big picture is always what counts.

I'm going to do portraits and charge for them.  I feel like I'm in a place where I can deliver an excellent product to someone looking for a special moment, frozen in time.  I really want to have my photos tell a story about the person in them.  Here are my goals:

  • Read and practice as much as possible about the technical side of portraiture, so there are no barriers when I'm in a tight situation.
  • Book at least 6 clients by the end of this year, hopefully more.
  • Create 5 portfolio worthy shots.
  • Get involved with at least one of the local photography groups for peer reviews and critiques.

It's a short list for now, but I want to keep things achievable.  I started by assembling a list of things to do (short term) and completed a setup for my photography area.  I just need things on the walls to make it seem like home.

I've put my workspace together so I literally have no excuses.  Time to get cracking!!
I have loads of resources to get my feet off the ground.  I have a great supportive wife.  I'm going to embrace these positive things and reach for my goals with dedication and intent.
