Man, I had a lot of fun this weekend over at Weir Field in Sackville, NS. I've never had the opportunity to bring my camera gear to a baseball game and thanks to joining the Sackville Photo Club, I got the chance. I volunteered some of my time (a saturday afternoon/evening and Sunday morning) to help out one of the members of the club at the Bantam AAA Atlantics.
I got to learn a lot about photographing baseball and watched some pretty awesome games. Throughout the tournament the teams were incredibly well matched, with two of the Saturday games going into extra innings. Even in the final, there was an amazing rally in the last inning, and the Tri-County Rangers, down by 6 runs, nearly came back after scoring 4.
Photography wise, I ran around with my 70-200 on for most of the games, switching up to the 24-70 for the end of the game to get team reactions.
None of the above images were cropped. I was actually allowed on the field and I cheated in as close as I felt to be safe in order to get great action shots. I won't take this experience to be the norm as I know most umpires want no-one on the field once they say "Play ball!"
Cheers, More tk...
