CIBC Run for the Cure 2012

Sunday morning came along, and I wasn't feeling too bad.  I hadn't got out of the apartment for long on Saturday and I was feeling restless.  After checking my facebook feed, I discovered that the CIBC Run for the Cure was happening, and I packed up my gear and headed out.  I took two cameras with me (a first!!), my T2i with a 70-200mm and the 5D with the 24-70.   It was time to try some event photography!

Below is a collection of my images from the Halifax Run for the Cure 2012.  After seeing all the people moving off the starting line I got a sense for just how big the run is, and also how important it is.

Who are you running for?  This was an entire table for people to put down their thoughts, in pink, purple and cyan coloured sharpies.
The run took place all over the commons area in Halifax, including the public gardens.  With so many runners, police shut down some sections of streets.
These guys were powerhouses, as they should be.  Props to the fire department for donning the pink and running for the cure!

Custom pink boxing gloves, just for symbolism?  This is serious stuff!  I think this is an awesome idea!!

Cheering on a pair of runners as they approach the finish line!

The pink carnations are a nice touch!

The emotions at the finish line were absolutely amazing.  I'm happy to have been able to capture even a fraction of it.

A small photo booth was set up for teams to get together and get a group shot taken.  I kind of snuck in on this one but it helps to show the spirit of the event.
