Test shoots are sometimes great, and sometimes a wash. For this particular shoot I wasn't sure what to expect since I had Janine Quinn modelling, and it was her first time in front of a camera in the studio. She's a hair stylist and makeup artist, and was very competent in doing her own look (which was really convenient since I couldn't pin down a makeup artist or stylist for the shoot).
The other uncertainty in the studio was me; I had never shot on my Hasselblad in these conditions so I had no idea what to expect. And it's not like you can just check the back; but that's half the fun of working with film.
Janine had a good extensive wardrobe to choose from and we went through a series of looks, from very basic to something more elegant and finally something street-style with a kick (I'm loving that Marvel pencil skirt in the final image below btw).
We had a blast shooting these looks, with Paul Vienneau as cheerleader/assistant. I was really pleased to be able to go through several different lighting setups and get some mileage on my Hasselblad, but the star of this shoot was Janine. She rocked it, and I hope that she keeps on booking.
More of my work is coming down the pipe. I've been so ridiculously busy this summer that I haven't had time to look after my blog.
